About
For me, creativity is a delight. I have found an expansive playground in the world of lighting.
With few limitations or expectations, I listen to what is emerging in the moment. I then translate that into lamp designs by combining materials in unique ways. Creating lighting provides a wonderful opportunity for me to play with color and light.
Originally from Virginia, I began designing with glass over 30 years ago, creating in the tradition of leaded glass. A relocation to New Mexico influenced my work to become more expansive, organic and filled with light. My designs are inspired by nature, the vast skies of New Mexico, by writings of wisdom, by often seemingly mundane objects.
My portfolio tends to exhibit a Japanese-like aesthetic and a quality of quiet reflection.
A primary influence on my art is my lifelong practice of yoga and meditation. By quieting the mind, I open to an organic stream of creativity. With inspiration, I utilize globally-sourced papers, metals, wood and natural materials to create one-of-a-kind lighting.
My lighting is exhibited at shows and galleries and has been sold to private collections throughout the world.
All of Nisa Designs Lighting is one-of-a-kind. Each piece is made by hand. It is my intention that my lamps will add light and beauty to your world.
